assignment
- file transfer between the warehouse management system, which handles inventory information, and the business system that processes orders, etc., were carried out via FTP, but it could take 30 minutes to process a single transfer.
- Even if file transfer was successful, the data was sometimes not delivered correctly. If shipments were made based on incorrect information, it would cause inconvenience to customers and damage the company's reputation.
- Previously, when a problem occurred with file transfer processing, it was necessary to search through a huge amount of logs to find the problem, correct it, and resend the data, which required a lot of time and effort for recovery.
Key points of the solution
Stanley Electric Sales of America, Inc. has revamped the FTP system that connects its warehouse management system and business systems. A new file transfer infrastructure has been implemented using HULFT. This has reduced the wait time for file transfer from the previous 30 minutes to a maximum of three minutes, enabling timely ordering. Furthermore, if a problem occurs with file transfer, subsequent transfer processing is automatically stopped. This helps prevent ordering or shipping with incorrect information, thereby reducing risk. Since data can be corrected immediately when transfer processing stops, maintenance work has also become more efficient. Continued operation in the future is expected to bring cost benefits from reduced man-hours.
When goods are received at the warehouse, the information is notified from the warehouse management system to the headquarters' business system, which then updates the database. Based on the latest database in the business system, the headquarters then issues shipping instructions to the warehouse, including customer information, product numbers, invoice data, and other information.
