assignment

  • The mainframe-based information system had been in operation for approximately 25 years, and system inefficiencies had become apparent, including the remaining old IT assets.
  • The bank has a mix of mainframe and open systems, and character code conversion was required to accommodate a variety of formats.
  • When developing data integration processing between systems based on FTP, it is necessary to create mechanisms for various format conversions and error handling.

Key points of the solution

Resona Group (Resona Holdings, Resona Bank, Saitama Resona Bank, and Kinki Osaka Bank) implemented a "new information system" based on an open platform to address the aging of its mainframe-based information system. The "data hub platform," comprised of HULFT and HULFT-DataMagic, handles character code conversion for the accounting system and integration with various business systems. This automates a series of processes, from diverse data extraction to processing and conversion, and database integration, enabling stable, high-speed data transmission between various systems. Within the mission-critical banking system, the data hub platform transmits up to 200GB of batch data in less than 30 minutes. The total volume of batch processing data per day can reach up to 800GB. Taking advantage of the high-quality, highly reliable data hub platform, the scope of its use is expanding, including automating data extraction and processing in other systems.

The old mainframe-based information system was rebuilt on an open platform to create a "new information system." The "data hub platform" built on HULFT and HULFT-DataMagic is positioned as part of the new information system. It works in conjunction with the accounting system running on the mainframe, and handles character code conversion as well as data transmission processing with various business systems.
